Would I Reply? is run by Nick Dunse. This page says what we keep, why, and for how long.
This website
wouldireply.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. The checker runs as a separate app; the rest of this page covers it.
The messages you paste
When you check a message, we send it (with the subject and the optional “who it’s for” line) to our AI provider, Anthropic, which runs the Claude model that judges it. Anthropic processes it to produce your result. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, it doesn’t use this to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited time for safety and abuse checks. See Anthropic’s privacy policy for the current details.
So the same message always gets the same answer, we keep the result of each check for 90 days, then delete it. It’s sealed with a key made from the message itself, so it can only be opened by checking that exact message again: we can’t read it or link it to you. Beyond that, we only keep a message if you save and share it (kept for 90 days, then deleted), or you’re on Pro (your history is kept for 90 days, then deleted).
Please don’t paste anything confidential, or personal details you don’t need to.
Your account
If you buy a check or sign in, we keep your email address, your plan and your check balance. Payments will be handled by Stripe: we never see your card details.
Shared links
A shared result link is private: it isn’t listed or indexed, and it can’t be guessed. Anyone you give it to can see it. It’s deleted after 90 days, or sooner if you ask.
The examples
The free examples are made-up pitches from fictional senders and companies.
Cookies and rate limits
The app uses a cookie to keep your account on your browser. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. To stop abuse, the app counts requests per IP address, but only stores a scrambled (hashed) form of it, for up to a day.
Why we use it
- Judging your messages, and keeping results, shared links and Pro history: to provide the service you asked for (contract).
- Your account, sign-in and payments: to provide the service (contract), and to keep accounting records, which UK law requires (legal obligation).
- Rate limits and stopping abuse: our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe.
- Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.
Who handles it
We use these providers to run Would I Reply?. Each handles personal data only to provide its service to us.
- 20i: hosts this website and our email, in the UK.
- Vercel: runs the checker app, in its London region.
- Neon: the app’s database.
- Anthropic: judges the messages you paste, as described above.
- Resend: sends sign-in links and receipts.
- Stripe: will take payments when checks go on sale, and holds card details.
We never sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Outside the UK: Vercel, Neon, Anthropic, Resend and Stripe are US companies, and some data may be handled in the US. Where it is, it’s protected by safeguards UK law approves, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data
- correct it
- delete it
- limit how we use it, or stop using it
- send it to you or another service in a reusable format
Email hello@wouldireply.com. It’s free, and we reply within one month. Because a stored result is sealed with a key made from your message, we can only find it if you send us that message again.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use personal data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
